can someone tell me why big software companys are not writting for linux?, why don’t they start making linux versions of their software and sellling it as they would windows? as soon as this happens im moving to linux, please tell me someone as I have spent 2 hours googling and cant find out, reply to this comment!. thanks in advanced.

That’s really only the case if it’s in the pre-alpha stage. And with package management such as Debian’s .deb and Red Hat’s .rpm, I’ve encountered few programs that need compiling.

first of all, linux is not much harder to use than windows, there are kids that show a learning curve that is about the same than that of a windows user. The problem is, and i always say it, that people is used to the monopoly (windows) and anything that isn’t windows is hard therefore.

Apple’s products are much more locked down than Microsoft’s.

My girlfriend knows more about Linux than this guy..
