even cheap routers offer mac filtering. Even without a password at all, it will only allow a whitelist to connect to the unit.

The feature i want in vista/7 involves the sidebar. I want it hidden until i hit a key combo to make it appear, then have it auto-hide again! osx already does this (f-12).

i think the sharing across networks can seriously hurt security. if someone cracks the password on your wireless router, your entire system can be accessable to someone else.
